Apple KuchenRecipe Index: Desserts > Cakes1 1/2 c. flour 1/4 c. sugar 1/2 t. salt 1/2 c. butter 1 egg yolk 2 T. milk 2 T. flour 4 c. sliced apples 1/2 c. sugar 1 t. cinnamon 1 T. butter Directions Toss 1 1/2 c. flour, sugar and salt to mix. Cut in butter with a pastry blender or two knives, until mixture looks like coarse meal. Beat egg yolk with mile, add to flour. Press dough against bottom and sides of a greased 8 square baking pan. Sprinkle with 2 T. flour. Spread with fruit, sprinkle with sugar mixed with cinnamon, dot with butter. Bake in 400 oven about 45 minutes, until crust is brown and fruit is tender. May also use peaches, pears or plums or 3C drained canned fruit, reducing sugar topping 1/4 c. |
