Anise cookiesRecipe Index: Desserts > Shaped Cookies1 stick softened butter 1/2 cup sugar 2 large eggs and 1 egg white 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 3 tsps. anise extract 2 1/2 cups flour 1 tablespoon baking powder Icing 2 cups confectionary sugar 1/4 teaspoon anise extract 2 tablespoons milk ( more may be used if too dry) Directions In large bowl beat butter, sugar till blended and creamy. Beat in all eggs, vanilla and anise extract. On low speed, beat in flour and baking powder.Shape dough into 4 balls and wrap each ball in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Divide each ball into 9 pieces. with floured hands, roll each ball into a rope and seal at ends, then sligtly twist rope. repeat with remaing dough. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets for 12-15 minutes till bottoms brown. When completely cool ice with confectionary sugar and different color holiday sprinkles. Let icing dry and store in tins lined with aluminum foil. Notes For best results, refrigerate dough overnight. |
