4 to 5 medium tomatoes
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1. Preheat the broiler.
2. Slice the tomatoes in half horizontally. Place the halves, cut side up, on a broiling pan. Dot the surface of each half with butter, a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese, a pinch of thyme, and salt and pepper to taste.
3. Place under the broiler and broil until the tops are bubbly and golden brown, about 7 to 10 minutes.
Serves 8 to 10
